So, I'm scheduled to have back surgery this Friday...😢. Scary for sure! I've had an idea to build a TV tray for the media room couch for a while now but given the amount of bed time I will be having over the next few weeks I thought I should add some features! So, a little bit at a time between pain killers this is what I got so far.......
I forgot to mention this is a 100% scrap wood build. Plus I looked high and low for someone online who might have done a similar build to get inspiration from but came up empty. So this is definitely a concept build.
You can see this is adjustable to use at the couch or in the bed. I was most concerned with stability but that isn't a issue.
Another key feature is this. It's designed to be used as an extension to the main top or you can pull it all the way out and use it separately as a laptop tray. The circles keep the laptop cool!
I guess I didn't get a pick of the table top but I joined the top with a through tenon so it super strong. No hardware was used in the construction of this build! 👍. I'll leave this for now and add a few more build pics. I'll update once completed.
Thats the Mortise for the base
Extension/laptop tray grid for whole location.
I finished the building of the TV tray. Again this is very much a prototype and done quickly so much can be improved in the future. The biggest thing I did was added some addition rigidity to the up and down hight feature. Doing so fixed the flex I was getting so it was definetly worth doing. Now it's just sanding and finish left to do!
I made a Apple Watch/iPhone charging station with a glasses holder for my wife for Mothers Day. Made from California red cedar.
